Lima, November 28, 2016.- After three months of hard work and dedication, the second edition of the National Contest on Labor Litigation, organized by Miranda & Amado Law Firm with the participation of the Derecho y Sociedad magazine published by Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), came to an end.

In the last hearing, team “Sujetos de Modalidad” (the defendants), consisting of Guillermo Castaños and Christian Montero, law students at PUCP, beat team “In dubio pro operario” (the plaintiffs), consisting of Giancarlo Pala and Olenda Torres, from Universidad César Vallejo of Trujillo.

The Honorable Victor Malca, Supreme Judge of the Second Transitory Chamber for Constitutional and Social Matters of the Supreme Court; Enrique Ramal Barrenechea, President of the Standing Chamber for Labor Matters in and for Callao; and Gino Yangali Iparraguirre, President of the First Transitory Chamber for Labor Matters in and for Lima, were responsible for evaluating and grading both teams and selecting the winner.

Moreover, team “Kalokagathia,” consisting of Bárbara Rosell and Miguel Arenaza from Universidad Privada del Norte (Cajamarca campus), was awarded the third prize, while Renzo Granda from Universidad San Martín de Porres, won the award for best speaker.

This edition saw the participation of 86 law students from all over the country who had the opportunity to experience litigation—oral, written and audiovisual—in labor matters at its highest level before lawyers and magistrates currently in office, which will enable them to consolidate their academic and professional training.
